I reckon a factory sunroof would "top" the car off nicely, but it will probably cost a pretty penny to get a complete one. They seem to fetch good money, for good reason.

Nice progress pics, it is still looking pretty clean for it's age!

Cheers

Progressed lil further today, started unpicking the panels that need to be removed to get to the plenum under the window, plenum will be removed tomorrow

The hole you see isn't rust it is from a stubborn weld that didn't want to come loose and took quite an amount of force with cold chisel to get free

Little bit of rust here on top of passenger A Pillar, this will all be sorted once plenum is removed along with rust (if any) under plenum

I ended up buying a new panel to fix the rust in rear, i'll see how confident i feel after finishing the plenum removal for this one though, it just may be left for the beater

Also have bought a disc brake 9" diff for car as well, still waiting for seller to remove the centre though as he wants to keep that so will post pics when it arrives (should be tomorrow)

These 4 wheel disc XC GXL's, while they don't get a 9 " diff, don't they get a 4 pinion Borg Warner from memory? How common are they - and how strong compared to a regular BW? All I'm thinking is, if you DO put in a 9" don't just chuck the original - might be worth a few bucks..

If it's like the later borg warner falcon diff's it could be 2 pinion or 4 pinion, it could also be 25 or 28 spline. 4 pinion 28 spline one's are the tuff diff's. But being a XC GXL with a v8 it should be disc rear end, and possibly worth a bit to someone else with a XA-XC wanting a rear disc setup.

Nice progress pics!

Cheers

Finished removing the plenum today, only rust is on top of passenger A pliiler box section so this will be an easy repair compared to some

Wow, that's pretty clean in there! I guess it shows the car has been in storage for a while!

Cheers
