Got a possible blown head gasket(will do a compression test first)on my EBII engine.Can anyone tell me the best gasket to use?The standard EBII gasket,or is there something better?

Cheers,Kevin. Go and buy yourself a Genuine Ford AU head gasket, part number ER 6051 A $97.00. You will need to appropriate the rest of the gaskets, like a CHEAPIE VRS from Supercheap or Autobahn. |

Got an AU headgasket & a set of new headbolts to pick up from Harrigan Ford tomorrow.Compression test was within specs,but the vacuum gauge test indicated a fuel problem.Will sort that out after fixing the headgasket.Seem to be getting a lot of small fine bubbles in the coolant container,much like a half poured pint of Guinness stout,but only at about 1,500 - 2,000 rpm.The water level in the coolant container also rises VERY quickly when running at this speed,and I think that there is a small compression leak into the cooling system.
Don't want to pull the head,but looks like no other option,or I stuffup a good engine and ute.

If I use the AU head gasket,can I use new standard EBII headbolts & the EBII bolt torque sequence and torque setting?My Ford workshop manual calls for oiling the bolt threads,screwing them up finger tight,torquing to 40Nm,then use an angle torque tool,and turn through a 90 degree arc.Or should I use the AU torque setting & bolt tightening sequence?

Does the AU gasket go on dry,or do you have to use some sort of sealant?

no sealant, just whack it on

The Head Bolts are all the same regardless of the series and I would do the AU torque settings.
