Hi Guys:
I currently have a 93 EBII engine all stock standard with a M93LE 4speed auto trans with overdrive sitting in my back yard, with round 300.000kms on the clock. I would like to do a top half conversion; this is what I have in mind. EF/EL/AU head (not sure which one to use) with AU head gasket Broadband manifold Red back Extractors & Exhaust EL/EF ECU Basically a full tear down and rebuild I also want to turf the auto Trans and install a T5 Trans Anyone got any idea on how I would go about doing this and what type of performance gains do you think I will gain? |

Gidday.
Are you also going to do a bottom end refresh? If so, along with a stock replacement head, you will only get back what the tired kms have lost. Yes, adding extractors and a 2.5" exhaust will help, but it won't be a lot. You could look at adding a Wade performance cam for some more grunt, and having a bit extra shaved off the head to raise the compression a little. The most gain you will find is from fitting the T5, as it has better gearing to make the most of the six's power. The BBM will deliver a lot of mid range torque, and is a great mod as it really improves drive-ability. As for HOW? That is up to you. Get a manual, talk to some local mechanics re recommendations for engine rebuilders etc. There is a doco on converting to a T5 on this site, but a lot of it you will have to learn as you go. Cheers BenJ

Wade cams thinking of a 1636 cam, should beef her up a bit.
The block will be getting a full restore with new pistons and rings, gaskets etc I will be doing the BBM conversion but im not to sure on what head to use any suggestions do i stay with the stock head or upgrade to a later one. whicherver head i use will be getting shaved back, new valves, Vernier Adjustable Cam Gear, valve springs etc also will be ported for better air flow ive got the tech guide to converting auto trans to T5 and thats quiet easy to follow, thanks for your input |
