ok ive got a ba xr6, only performance mod on it at the moment is a typhoon intake set up with a K&N filter. im looking at buying either a flash tuner or a full exhaust system (4490-high flow cat-redback catback). on my car which of these two choices would give me the best performance increase, the choice will be one or the other and i will most likely not buy the other in the future.
as i said above only current performance mod is typhoon intake with k&n filter.
thanks

best go for the exhaust then, no real point getting it tuned with the mods you got.

Mods, then tune. No point tuning, then modding. Because then you will need to re-tune for you mods.

if your only going to do one and not the other, a tune will unlock more power than the exhaust.... plus youll gain fuel economy at the same time.

if you want noise too, then just replace your muffler with a hotdog.... best of both worlds....

well thats the thing i know im gonna be tempted to get a tune later on, and if i get a tune now ill be tempted to get a exhaust system later on :? , im gonna stick with the exhaust. plus i spent 40 mins and was transferred to about 7 different departments, on a phone call to the RTA to check if a full exhaust system was legal for a p plater. and surprisingly for nsw it is!!

I bet if you call back you will get a different answer every time though.

Then of co@rse if you get fined you will have to go to court to try and argue that the exhaust isn't a performance modification.

thats the thing i is a performance mod but its not classified as a "significant" performance mod, according to the RTA a significant performance mod will require an engineers certificate. ive called up my insurance company and once i get it down im making them make a note of the fact that it is legal for me to drive.
this is what my loop hole law states: these are restricted vehicle guide lines for p plater in NSW
(c) that has had any substantial modification made to the engine of the vehicle to increase the performance of the vehicle (not being a modification made by the manufacturer of the vehicle in the course of manufacture of the vehicle).

on the website a similar point in a different section (easy to get to)stats "a engine performance modification that requires an engineers certificate"
