Hi guys and girls,
this is my first time posting here so please dont flame me if I have done something wrong. I have been looking at the shift kit mod, http://www.fordmods.com/ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/shift-kit-info-compiled-t84386.html for my AU Fairmont Ghia. I was just wondering of someone could shed some light on a few things. The red wire in the diagram I assume is the feed back signal from the transmission (ecu pin 71) and the green wire is the signal to the s5 soliniod (pin 81). Is this a correct assumption? With mods like this I like to know exactly what I am modifying and also this will be the first mod to this car so Im a bit nervous lol Thanks to the people who designed this mod, I like this a lot better than having to change a valve body. |

Very nice, thanks for that mate. How firm do you set it for every day driving?

i'd say about 35-40% firms up the shifts enough without being silly
even then, it sometimes thuds into gear at low speed....... but its a 'must have' mod as the factory shifts are horrible |

I installed it tonight, took bout 20 minutes not rushing. Easy as to do. Didnt find any rivets as I had read about which made it easier.
It works great, really tightens up the shifts. I found that my car wouldnt chirp 2nd at all even with full pressure, could be just the IRS doing its job. I didnt install it for that anyway, just wanted some slightly tighter shifts. I think it could be interesting in the wet when its turned on lol. Anyway, this is a great mod, im glad I did it, now to make it look like its factory |

With my shift kit I used a spare dial from the factory air con panel and mounted it next to the auto shifter. Looks 100% original. I also fitted another one for the J3 chip mode selector
