Well we have a B series and are very happy with it. But I'm only speaking from my experience. Some people will have different opinions based on their experiences and from things they have heard.

Even though it sounds like youve made your mind up already, just remember it was a rushed model to take over from the "unpopular" AU......... and is the first of its series
Try for a MKII BA & BF, or even better BFII........... fork out the extra coin the first time, and it might save alot of headaches in the long run Last edited by FordFairmont on Sun Dec 12, 2010 9:02 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

If your on a budget, then imo an AUIII is a better buy......... test drive both and make your own decision i guess
Of course most price on carsale are dreaming, but i wouldnt pay more than 9k for clean example. I looked up AUIII XR8's but theres none around in your area http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/res ... Short=1645 |

if u have your heart set on a b series id suggest going the early 05 bf. youd be looking at an extra 2-3grand which is worth it in the long run.

I think if you were to buy the car you have mentioned you wouldn't be throwing your money away. It has low Ks and I am sure it has been well looked after and other than some brake issues on the front and rear brake hoses (which are covered by Ford for replacement) the other thing is Bushes in the rear suspension cradle.
You should be able to get a history of this vehicle from Ford as they have access to the warranty issues the vehicle had. At the end of the day, if YOU like it and the price to YOU is fair, buy it. |

Very tidy car, but see if you can find a newer [dearer] example with rear power windows and centre armrest in the rear seat.
Early BA XRs in standard form were more or less Falcon XT spec interior, not Futura. Cheers |

My wifes car is a BA MKI- we bought from factory. Only problems she has had, were all fairly common. Diff bush, Blend door, Handbrake constant readjustment. It has 100k on it now, and drives just as good as it did when we got it. Good value for money really. Plus if your after a B series-an AU just wont do.

Get the BA XR6, AU's are ugly. I would Prefer an EF or EL over an AU.
