it might fit physically but can i ask why?
wont ever be legal on the road and will be a massive amount of work. also every GM fan will hate you for putting a chev motor in a ford, and every ford fan will hate you for basically the same reason. hotrods do it but i dont agree with it, use the same brand motor as the car.

If the engine is older than the vehicle its fitted to, I think it has to pass an equivalent emissions test as a 5.0L would. Not to sure about Vic. If I were you, Id do it in the Territory, you used to have to get it passed by the TAC then you could rego it. Times have probably changed a bit since then though. Besides, what sort of knob would put a 383 in a Ford. Thats like putting a hand full of s**t in a jewelery box.

Yeah I agree, a windsor would be the way to go, and you can do a s**t to them. Its a shame the old 351 windsor isnt still made. Get a measuring tape out and through it across the engine bay to see how much room you have, you might be able to slip a 5.4 modular in there (BF GT) or if you have stacks of money that new Coyote 5.0 SC would be a real nice thing.
