Nothing wrong with a rattle gun. Just gotta nip the lugs up center the wheel and tighten them.
Unless of course its something special or you have a beast of a rattle gun. |

Yeah, noticed this last visit to the local Bob Janes, previously I always noticed they rattled them on and that was it.I think all the controversy that blew up on the news and like forced them to stop being lazy and change their ways... One mob here actually torques them with a tensions wrench to manufactures spec... Now if you ask me thats going a little too far the other way... But hey whatever works... So long as they can be undone on the side of the road with the average tool kit... Thats all that matters... I tighten mine as tight as I can with the 500 odd mm breaker bar that lives in the boot so that I know I can use that to undo them again... Never rattle them off either as I have lock nuts and the rattle gun ruins the key... Cheers, Tim

my old man never suggests using a rattle gun as in most cases u will have some nuts way over tightened and some loose (common thing even from tyre fitter they even do it) he always suggests doing it by hand ill prob need a breaker bar in the boot to undo the nuts on the NF as he done them up as hard as he can with a regular tyre iron so no way i could get them off im not very strong and well dad is kinda a hulk as ive seen him shatter wheel nuts and threads from over tightening them
