i got my car back from the panel beaters monday last week and parked it out side, was only a 5 minute drive.
the next day i went to start my car and it would not start, PULP or LPG, anyways i was to busy to do anything about it then and then so i got the mechanic out 3 days later and he found the problem, the fuel relay was screwed up and smelt like it was burning, replaced it with a seconfhand one for 20 bux (ford wanted 69 bux for a new one) but now we have found out that the fuel pump is screwed too and now i'm only able to run on LPG :(

wtf could have done this just over night?
and how much would a fuel pump be?

Maybe someone at the panel beaters needed a new fuel pump and swapped theirs for yours. Don't laugh its been done before.

I find it hard to believe the failed pump didn't have something to do with the crash or the repait.

Like madmaz, i suspect that the pannel beater pinched it.
After all, most LPG cars run on gas and not much on petrol.
I guess the pannel beater thought you wouldn't have noticed for some time.
Check if the cover in the boot has been removed and reinstalled.
It should be reasonable obvious if it has.
Don't open it up yourself though..

If it was clumsy workmanship that cause the pump to go faulty, then the pannel shop should fix it.

Either way, it was the most likely the crash, the workmanship or a thief.
If it was an insurance job, get on to your insurance company about this issue and demand that it be resolved.

Cheers.

panel beaters are dodgy. one day i had a perectly running celica, took it for a paint job, got it back a week later....PISSING OUT OIL from almost evey inch of the engine.

also, if your dead set to get this resolved, call the cops (if no luck, try your insurance agency) and see if they will investigate, they might take finger prints from the fuel pump cap (if no-one else has touched it) and match them at your pannel beater. sounds stupid but you may be surprised.

also a new pump will be from 150 to 250 depending where from. just got mine done, around 150 from memory from supercheap.

My vote goes for failed fuel pump = excessive current = melting realy.

But yes - fairly easy to see if the pump has been tampered with recently. The top of the assembly should be covered in dirt and grime.

well heres the thing, i needed the insurence company ppl come to look at the car first (it was a chicks fault for smashing into my front right quarter pannel) and they only had the car from 9am to 3:30pm no work was done to it (mind u i got the car back today and they done a fkn awesome job) so i don't think they could have done all the swaping etc etc in that amout of time... could they? :/

just check the cap first, if its dirty then it hasnt been touched, if its suspiciosly clean, maybe get it checked out, also if you know what your doin it doesnt take that long to change.
