Hey guys,
I've got a EF Falcon and I want to upgrade the stock sound. All I've done is buy a head unit. Mate of mine just put in 4 new speakers to his car and it sounds great now, for only $175. I want an amp as well and want to spend up to $300 plus amp (not sure how much these cost, $100-$200?).
Would love some suggestions and/or some info about previous projects on E-Series Falcons with speakers/amps.

Cheers, Jack.

if you after sound quality, you can't go past pioneer! it suprized me when i heard this too, but then i got to listen to a SQ car then with a full pioneer install and now i be leave lol. but anything can sound good it all depends the install! for the love of god, just don't go sony! as for amps, anything will work, just don't use any no named brands..... or sony haha. band for buck I willl always recommend Option Audio. best price for power out there, and it's and aussie made and owned. but as i said be before, anything will sound good, just depends on the install!

Cheers mate, yeah I'm leaning toward Pioneer at the moment. Friends of mine are recommending it as well, struggling to find anything better than these http://www.ryda.com.au/Pioneer-TS-A1702C-Car-Speakers-p/tsa1702c.htm for the same price.
I'll look into Option, at the moment I'm leaning towards the Clarion 4ch amp, http://www.ryda.com.au/Clarion-APX4361-4-Channel-Car-Amplifier-p/apx4361.htm.

But keep posting suggestions people, what are some decent brands?

BS. Sure they make some alright gear but if you think Pioneer are the SQ shizzle you live in a box lol.

Krisisdog, what do you recommend for me? I'm struggling to find something. I'm still not entirely sure what I need to look for in terms of good speakers. Frequency range? Total Power and RMS Power? Is it simply a company's high end product? Also, will a 6.75" (17cm) speaker fit in the original spot of the speaker in an EF Falcon?
What are some decent companies I should be looking for?

Standard size speakers are 6"(15.3cm). Some 6.5"(16.5cm) speakers will fit though as most arent truly 6.5". A 6.75" (17cm) wont fit, so stick to looking at 6 or 6.5" speakers.

So you have a budget of $300 for your speakers, and how much for an amp?
$300 will get you a nice set of components for sure. Stock tweeters are mounted on the top of the dash in the corners. If you have any model above a GLi you'll have some stock ones there (which you'll replace with your new ones anyway).

Theres plenty of other speakers around for $300, but from ryda these would be my pick
http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.a ... =TechSpecs
Boston SC60 components

Or the model below them for 200
http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.a ... =TechSpecs

I've heard the SC60's before and they are mint.

For an amp from ryda probably one of the below
http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.a ... =TechSpecs
http://www.ryda.com.au/Clarion-APX2181- ... px2181.htm

Have a look on FHRX Studios website as well.... theres a lot of more 'exotic' brands there...

Alright this is what I've almost decided on...
Front: Boston s60 $198.85 - http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=S60&Show=TechSpecs
Rear: Boston s65 $108.85 - http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=S65&Show=TechSpecs
Amp: Clarion APX2181 $184.85 - http://www.ryda.com.au/Clarion-APX2181-2-Channel-Car-Amplifier-p/apx2181.htm

Is it possible to wire the front to the amp, and then wire the rears just to the Head Unit. The s65 needs 35 RMS, while Pioneer claims my HU has an inbuilt amp that will put out 4x50 RMS.
http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/CD%20DVD%20Players/DEH%202250UBG.aspx This is my HU.

Would it even be possible to wire all four to the HU, the s60 in the front will require 55rms?

Your Pioneer deck has 4x50watt MAX not RMS. RMS would be about 15.
You can wire up the fronts from the amp and rears from the HU no worries, but honestly I wouldnt worry about changing the rear speakers, spend that on fronts/amp/sound deadener in the front doors.

for the price, pioneers new components are damn good! i can't comment on Boston audio gear as i know nothing about them, if price was no issue i would have said diamond audio! (i'm still saving for two sets of diamond audio components) i'm more of a spl man myself, but i do appreciate a good sounding system.

I've settled on:
Front: Boston SR60 :D
Rear: Pioneer TS-G1643R
Amp: Pioneer GM-5400T, to power the fronts.
Buying from America, all up about $500 inc. shipping.
Should be in next week or so,

So I decided to go JB_Hi-Fi instead of ordering online from a cheap American site. Spent the same amount of money as the Bostons would have cost, and got Pioneers (kinda regret it, so going Boston next time!). Here's what I got.
Front: http://www.ryda.com.au/Pioneer-TS-A1702 ... a1702c.htm
Rear: http://www.ryda.com.au/Pioneer-TS-A1673 ... a1673s.htm
4ch Amp: http://www.orioncaraudio.com/Products/P ... ductID=556
Had to get a new headunit with 2 RCAs also, got the cheapest Pioneer one.
It sounds decent enough, (doesn't seem like $700 though) but I think it could really use a little sub. Bass just sounds weak and flat coming out of rears.
