Hey all, got a quick query about the throttle response on my 07 BFmk2 ute (n/a). Essentially it has the worst throttle lag of any vehicle i've driven. I've put up with it until now but I keep hearing people harp on about the great response they get from b series sixes and frankly, mum's mixer ring lpg'd ef flogs it for responsiveness! It's kinda hard to describe the lag but when I put my foot down there is a noticeable delay between throttle being depressed and the engine picking up rpm's, i'm just not sure how much lag is acceptable with these and I'm not in a positon to try out other cars for comparison?
Any input as to why it is so poor would be greatly appreciated as it gets driven round by a number of people and i'm sick of putting blown vacuum hoses back on at 3am Only mods are typhoon airbox/intake and JTG liquid lpg sytem but it's just as woefull on both fuels. Cheers |

its thanks to a evil little modern day idea of electronic throttle, they have a slight lag as the ecu works out the position on the pedal then relays that to the throttle body. on European and jap cars you can get what they call a "sprint booster" pretty much you open the throttle a little bit it opens it up a little more and faster, this helps eliminate the lag, however as far as i know they don't make em for falcons, also the throttle lag on the falcon is minimal compared to other cars.

i find that theres around a 1-1.5 second delay responce on mine when i plant it.
if u want to get rid of that use semi-auto, obviously u can drop the gear urself straight away instead of waiting for ur ecu to register, i find it much more effective. also like winman said its actually alot quicker that majority of other cars for example my EF takes f**k ages, but i must say my mazda 3 isnt tooo bad lol xD |

mazda 6's are the worst, i swear its like plant your foot, admire the view outside then car, check the time, then it goes

Thanks for that chaps, I had my suspicions about the electronic TPS. It just irks me a little when I get in a turbo-diesel landruiser and even IT has )marginally)better throttle response! Is there anything that can be done to improve this ie:flash tuning etc?

Change the throttle body to take a cable mate then mods to the pedal box and pedal to take the cable aswell, otherwise nothing dude..
You get use to it over time, i was spewing too mate dont worry but 4 years on doesnt bother me anymore. And no it wont take that long to get the hang of it.. Cheers Pete
