The NF's idle solenoid is being a pain in the a**
it idles at 1050RPM all the time regardless of cold or not its starting to ruin its great economy if u unplug the solenoid it runs properly 750RPM i think it was now i had trouble originally with my TPS and to fix it i just uplugged it removed it and reapplied and as it was saying the car was being reved when it wasnt and made the solenoid stick high rpms like as if the throttle was sticking sometimes hasnt done it since i done that ive cleaned the solenoid but no luck

Try keeping the solenoid disconnected, start the car then adjust the idle screw till the car barely idles/almost wants to stall then reattach the idle solenoid and I think it might come back. Is this a 6cyl or 5.0l?

Forgot about that.. I've been driving my car for ages! Since I was 16 lol. So many people have had heaps of cars in that time. Before this problem occurred, did you tinker with anything or change anything?

That read made stuff all sense to me...
Is there a TPS on it or not? The butterfly doesn't stick at all? Have you checked the computer to see if any sensors are out of range? Have you tried another ISC if you have a spare? Don't disconnect it and turn it down til it barely runs... That is not the right way of doing it... We have covered this before... gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/having-some-strange-problems-with-my-el-need-help-t94469.html?hilit=ISC Both factory ford manual pages for EF/EL and EA-ED covered in there... With EF/EL being more involved to set... Arm covered that page and I added the EA-ED one... Cheers, Tim

Thats alright... If you turn it down too far I'm guessing the butterfly can get stuck and that may destroy a throttle body... Hence the feeler gauge business and that that you have to do...

the tps is there all i did was unplug and remove and reapply it and plug it back in etc and the car behaved better in idle and start up
i dont have a spare ISC sadly me and dad have booth examined the butterfly when reved etc its not sticking how do i see if any sensors are out of range ill try that proper ecu reset

you put a tester on the computer and see which error codes it throws at you...
If you own a made tester like Murrays its easy which I'm guessing you don't judging by that last comment... So there is a procedure in resources and tech docs up the top in the navi bar I'm sure there is a how to in there on which pin to ground and which pin to count the flashes... The plug in unit just makes it easy to do... Cheers, Tim

after much testing it was the throttle body base idle making it idle at 957RPM on average (dash trouble shooting mode thingo) so turned it down to 700RPM with the solenoid disconnected then reconnected it and done the ecu training reset and the car is really good
i cant wait to see if this fixes the mystical cold start problem were it would have loose power when cold when it takes off for a few seconds but once the car got its temp guage to move it would be fine i just ran the test and i get a error code 521 from the pinouts 521 is the only code i get what the hell does it mean by turning the wheel 1/2 its impossible the power steering isnt enabled when ignition is on & 538 during ER test (i did goose the throttle is there a special time ur meant to do it or a rpm ur meant to reach ?)

521 is not detecting the steering turns...
This test is normally only done with the engine running... Not usually done in the KOEO test... So I wouldn't worry about that code... 538 is that it missed the goose... as soon as the first pulse is detected you turn the wheel and then do the goose and you stamp it fully open (WOT) and it needs to hit at least 3000rpm from memory... Was there any memory codes in the KOEO test? Cheers, Tim

521 came out of koeo
521+538 came out of ER

Had the same on an AU XR6 when the aircon was on, removed and cleaned the entire throttle body and the ISC valve with no luck, ended up unplugging it and turning idle up until I could run everything (ac full, high beam, hazards, defrost) at once without it stalling. Guy bought it 2 hours later didnt notice a thing. With it plugged in if the ac was on itd hold whatever rev you revved it to ie if you stabbed it to 5000rpm itd stay there.
