Am after the torque settings for a EL falcon diff centre????All torque setting if possible...cheers

I have the gregories settings... But they do vary slightly from the proper Ford ones I noticed when I put my Lokka in... The genuine Ford manual I have doesn't cover rear axle... I can always get dad to have a look in the workshop manual at lanhams if you keen and detail which bolts you required torque settings for...

Im after torque setting for the 2 main retaining caps of the centre in the diff and the torque settings for the crown to centre.
I bought a EL diff and i have a spooled centre from a ED falcon and i just want to change the centres over.cheers

ahhh...
140Nm for the crown wheel bolts... they are reverse thread too so you need a tension wrench that works backwards... Gregories says 48-60Nm for the bearing cap bolts... But honestly can't remember what the Ford one said now when I put the Lokka in... Will find out and get back to you on that one... You know how to see the mesh pattern up in them and that or you're not going to that trouble? Cheers, Tim

What do you mean by the mesh pattern???
I know how to pull the centre out and change it over just need the torque specs.cheers

The crown and pinion need to mesh in a certain way otherwise they tear each other to pieces?
There is shims on the pinion and shims either side of the carrier that determine this... If you have a mini spool its no worries... You remove the centre, unbolt the two halves and and press out the cross shafts... insert the spool... Press the cross shafts back in... bolt back together and make sure the right shim goes on the right side, the right outer race goes back on the right side and the right bearing cap goes back on the right side... If you are putting the whole centre from and ED into the EL (just transferring the crown)... Then it needs to be set up from scratch and re-shimmed... Of course this is only crucial for longevity of the gears... If it doesn't need to last (speed way use where everything breaks) then don't really matter... The Lokka is good because you can fit it yourself without needing to reset the mesh pattern... It just replaces the internals of the carrier... The shims, carrier, bearings, gears, nothing moves and bolts back together exactly as it came apart so its easy... I have the ED ford book here now... (would be the same as EL I reckon anyway, same diff just different hand brake mounts I think?) The crown wheel is 140Nm for the left handed bolts and the bearing caps are 55Nm... Cheers, Tim

Thanks mate i'll keep those torque settings handy as im going to swap the centres over the during the week.The diff is going into my turboed XD falcon.cheers
