The cluster is a straight install, you need to change the oil Switch to an Oil Sender on the engine.
and then the Cluster will work fine.

If you've bought a Fairmont cluster, you'll need to add a resistor for the interior light circuit.
If its an XR6-8 cluster it'll plug straight in.
If your car has ABS brakes, then you don't need to run any engine bay wires for the Low coolant, low washer level sensors.
However you need to run 2 wires for BOTH these functions only from the the inside Firewall to the cluster itself. ie: 30cm.

As for changing the reading. I have done it a few times, but its not as simple as 'i want this reading' You can generate a signal to run at around 800k/h and just keep it running to you get the desired odo reading. slow but effective.

I also have a Few Rare POLICE clusters with low K's if your interested with an Oil sender (worth $56 alone) for around $150
