hey guys.
just somthin thats come up in the past few days.
up to around 3k rpm my tacho needle seems to jump up the revs. it happens both goin up and down the revs in any gear. any ideas would be appreciated. thnx.
oh its my ba xt 3v too.

Sounds like the tacho itself is stuffed. Notice anything else with the other gauges?
Check the connectors into the cluster are ok too.

na nothin goin on with anythin else.
might chek terminals and wiring after work. lol.
could it be any sensors?

Nope tacho signal is generated by the PCM and transmitted via the CAN to a microprocessor in the cluster so, no sensors.

ah. so how can it be jumpy up till around 3k rpm then smooth?.. could a bad conectoin cause this or could it be a sign of worse to come.

That's why I said the tacho itself could be stuffed...the other things are just possible problems.

If you can get to it, I am not sure how many ground points the cluster uses but I'd check each one referenced to a known good ground point. However as XR9UTE said, if other gauges are not affected or fluctuate at all then it could possibly be the tacho itself.
