Hi guys
Just wrapping up the nl dash and loom conversion on my xh and having a couple of issues. So far I have re loomed the entire car with nl looms and dropped the nl dash in for testing. The only loose ends wiring wise is the tail lights and the interior light, as I need to power the car up to identify the wires. The dash lights up and the climate control seems to work. I can get the car to crank but it will not start. Because of things like the interior light I have bypassed smartlock by cutting and joining the 2 wires at the bcm. Basically now I just need some advice. I'm thinking there could be two issues 1. Smartlock bypass didnt work and need a proper module (smartlock light flashes on the dash when cranking. Also all the doors on the cluster are opening and closing) 2. Being a loom from an auto car, will the bcm cut fuel if it thinks its in drive even though I have a manual ecu. The cluster says D'. Does anyone know what wires to bridge on the plug which goes to the engine loom? Any help would be appreciated Thank-you Ben |

G'day personally why are you bypassing smartlock if it's an xh, I'd say put those wires back, afterall xh uses smartlock normally.
Secondly as long as you have the nuetral safety switch either bypassedor connected properly, it should be fine, I have an nl cluster in my ef fairmont which is manual.

Got it to fire about a week ago now.
I reconnected smartlock, and tried the relearn to no avale. So I thought the problem might of had something to do with the flapping doors on the cluster as that was the only standout problem. After a bit of searching I found that the door ajar switches have a resistance of 180ohms when closed. Quickly went to Jaycar and picked a pack of resistors for $0.45. Briged out the wires on the door plugs and bang fired straight up. I will get the front door sensors, but the rears have just had the resistors soldered in. {USERNAME} wrote: How did you mount the Blend door motor ?? Why? What does it hit? It clears the fire wall and I have test fitted the NL dash so everything seems good to go, probably take some measurements on wednesday for the brackets I need to make. Cheers Ben |

Whoa I'm quite suprized that was the drama, maybe it's a hair diffeent nf to nl, because when I first fitted my nf cluster testing a couple of the switches were fualty so I thought I went without for a week.
I would've swarn I was shy a couple, also there C*** to mounts, ahwell.

Did you figure out that the NL Harness needed the ground near the tail lights to fire up the fuel pump?

{USERNAME} wrote: Won't fit between the heaterbox and lower windscreen channel. Seems to fit fine, It is tight but I still have the firewall blanket on and the heater box pulled back nicely. The interior light works fine, just had to ground one pin on the xh door switch. {USERNAME} wrote: Whoa I'm quite suprized that was the drama Quote: Surprised me too when it worked. It was really the only standout problem, so i figured I would fix it and it worked. Lucky guess. {USERNAME} wrote: Did you figure out that the NL Harness needed the ground near the tail lights to fire up the fuel pump? I must of? the nl loom had had the tail light plugs and earth lugs cut off by someone at the wreckers, I had all the live conductors taped up to be safe, but the neutral could have found ground. Wasn't a conscious decision. Ben |
