Hi Guy's.
first, about 6 years ago my Fairmont was broken into and they removed my premium sound system. Last week I bid and won the same system on eBay. But because I didn't fit the Sony radio I have now which is the normal system. The system I won and want to add is one CD controller and the other one is the radio cassette. So if any one can help here I will be very happy. The problem is I am not sure of how to remove the ashtray surround from my Fairmont!! I can see one screw at the bottom left, I would have to take that out and than I suppose you pull the bottom out right hand side to release the bottom and I suppose pull down so that it is released from the top or do i have to take the whole dash out?? Thanks again John |

if there is only the one screw on the left then the right is clipped in, a ball and cup type clip
give the rh side a yank and it will unclip, then unclip the cig lighter wiring the bottom of the surround can then move towards the shifter and the top can unhook the other style (earlier) ashtray/radio surround has 2 screws at the bottom refitting is a reversal of the procedure |

Hi,
Hay thanks for that!! I just wasn't sure if that was the right way to remove the ashtray. But I was on the right track. Always good to check. Many thanks again. Take care. John |

To get the radio to work you need a pin code and that is from your VIN number that's what I'm talking about!!
If you know some other way of getting the radio to work with out pin codes news to me. Maybe that why they knocked it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Yes that is right. They will give you the pin code if you have the VIN number or take your car in, if you have bought the radio say off ebay you must have the code or the or the VIN number for a ford. Don't know any thing about Holden's, but I suppose they some thing the same.
