i started this mod an hour or so ago on my ED Gli, following the tech doco
I found the right wires however the lamps remain on even when the interior lights are off
They only turn off when the car is started
what have i done wrong?

I'd say you've wired them in before the switch. That's is they aren't being switched by the courtesy switches in the door pillar. They are obviously on the right circuit as they turn off when you start the car.

as mad max said, youve wired them into the right wires, just before it hits the door switch. can you pull one of the door switches out and work out the return wire and tap into that?

just use a test light to find the right wire... your looking one thats earthed when the door is open and not when it is closed...
