Friends of our have got starting probs with their Terry. Works fine then nothing - turn key nothing that is. Sent it to a "mechanic" and it came back starting but then stopped again.
They were told it was was the starter relay, replaced that and.... still nothing. This just started out of the blue, no warning. Any ideas? Cheers RD

I have heard that territory's have a problem with the steering column wires getting worn away and snapping on pretty new cars, my mates territory did this but it just killed all his indicator lights and stuff like that... I guess it could also take out the ignition side of things aswell. My territory has never done it but maybe it might have before i got it, (bought it at 80,000). Its just an idea......

Thats a common issue with the indicator stalk and nothing to do with ignition wires. And its not just Territory's, its all B-series as well. A very common problem. Could also be a problem with the BEM. These cars don'd operate the starter directly, it all goes via the BEM. |

Thank guys
So far have had suggestions of the exciter wire to the starter, the earth strap plus what you guys have suggested here. I found out a little more.... when the car was sent to to the mechanic they replaced the starter motor and the solenoid. Went ok for a while but when the car got hot after a long-ish trip it wouldn't start again. Still no luck getting it going, my mate has taken the day off to try and get it sorted....

Did the "mechanic" hook it up to a diagonstic computer like a modis or anything.
Or did they just start replacing parts. |

As far as I know they just started replacing....
But, he got it going this arvo, replaced the earth strap. During that he also found the alternator was a bit dodgy and the battery a bit low. Has some work to do in the 'lectrical area me thinks.....
