Try Pete at 27 Elliot street, Papakura, Auckland. Ph 09 298 6853. He's an artist when it comes to custom exhaust systems. Cheers...

hey guys got myself some ph4480 extractors, now just need an exhaust to go behind it. is it worth spending the money and getting a 2.5" cat back system? or just keeping my 2 1/4" exhaust, making it straight through except for one high flow?

will i notice much of a difference?

I'd say yes, it's worth getting the 2.5" exhaust done. Would be a waste to chuck on a decent set of extractors and follow it up with a s**t stock exhaust.

You won't notice too much difference in terms of performance with just the 2.5" system alone, maybe a few KW's at best, but it'll free up the rest of the system. You should notice a decent improvement overall along with the extractors though. You'll definitely notice the change in exhaust note, it'll sound deeper, and have a decent bark to it at high rev's. I'd recommend the 'Rage' branded 2.5" system, all mandrel bent piping with 2x high flow mufflers. You'll have to shop around for that though as buying direct from Autobend is daylight robbery lol. I'm running the Rage system, with Coby extractors, no cat and it honestly doesn't sound that bad for a 6. With mine being auto, it drones like a C*** under load at anything under say 2500rpm, but once it starts picking up revs it sounds good. Nice and deep at idle too.

Just out of interest, where did you get your 4480 extractors from? Every place I got quotes for back when I was looking for extractors wanted like $650-$700 a set :shock:

Holy f**k!!! $750+ gst for the 4480's? They would want to be HPC'd for that price :shock:

They quoted me $690~ for the 4480's but that was about 2 years ago now - plus GST and plus $50 for shipping from Chch to the Auckland branch as they only had one set in the whole country apparently.

The droning doesn't occur all the time with mine, just when it's under load at anything under 2500rpm, i.e carrying a car load of people with a few things in the boot and doing about 50-60kms up hill. Driving around in normal conditions it's fine, although sometimes it drones slightly when accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gear from low revs.

HPC = high performance coating.

Hey, Brownbear,

I have my eye on a mandrel-bent 2.5" cat-back sports exhaust (RPS, I believe) distributed by chase.co.nz for my AU. Their catalogue shows two sports systems for your ED - hotdog/muffler/resonator and hotdog/muffler. Chris Turner at Advanced Parts (www.fordandholdenparts.co.nz) says he can do them at a decent discount from list. Pitstop sell them as well, and I think srd.net.nz too, but probably at full price.

I bought the Coby F19CH headers for my EF from Partco. They had the best deal around, and good, fast service. As soon as the budget allows, I'll be getting my PH4480s from them as well.
