hey everyone im new to this website and ive just recently picked up an ef fairmont for 1400 bucks, 240k on the clock, everythings mechanically sound and has been great since i got it 3 months ago... i was just wondering what are a few things i can do to it. ill post what ive done, and what i want for how much :)

what ive done: fusion enclosure sub, fusion encounter 6x9's, mid high range alpine headunit with usb n blutooth, green parkers, green neons in the footwells, blue l.e.d's in the cluster, seat covers. and thats pretty much it

what i want: i want it to sound better(maybe breaking the catalyst in the cat?), its stock height so i want it lower (not something crazy expensive though, im willing to lose a little comfortabilty) new 17 inch rims, 6 inch speakers for doors, 300-500 watt amp to power all speakers, and even just little visual things im open to all suggestions, i just want to start slow and then get up to the bigger stuff... sorry this post is big, but please feel free to comment :)

Dont break the cat open for better note

The best way to improve your exhaust note on a budget is to either

-cut off the rear resonator
-look around your local exhaust shops or even on ebay for a 2.5" catback exhaust for around the $350 mark, then later on down the track you may want to invest in some headers

Hope that helps a little

Adam

Welcome to Fordmods mate.

I agree with Adam, just get the rear ressy cut out, its cheap and gives it a bit more of a note.

and catback exhaust aren't overly expensive. just shop around for a few different exhaust shops.

as for minor things you can always paint a few plastics. do the rocker cover and engine bay to give it a nicer look under the hood.
ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/painting-an-e-series-rocker-cover-t97220.html?hilit=painting%20your%20rocker%20cover

Also don't be too hesitant to experiment and pull materials apart and play around, see what you want to change to leather or valour etc.

If you like the neon's but dont like them on all the time you can just put some LED's in the footwell lights

If you're looking for some cheap 6.5" speakers, you can do worse than Pioneer TS-G1643R. I did a lot of research recently when looking for new <$100 speakers for my EL, and from everything I could deduce these were pretty much the best value for money. I got them for $58 from JB Hifi and they gave a huge improvement over standard.

Sell your 6x9s, they're pretty much pointless with the sub as you want the sound stage in front of you.

if your anywhere near Hoppers Crossing Flexi Fit Exhaust on Old Geelong Road do a good deal. i got a Redback cat back exhaust for $260 inc.fitting, $80 for tips on top of that if you want one.
so not too bad and sonds great.
also woodgrain door spears and shifter surrounds look good too.
