...LCD sunvisor in your car :)

It arrived at work today, knocked off work early and got it installed this arvo 8-)

It's actually a little shorter than my existing visors so I had to drill holes and s**t in my roof which was a major PITA but it's all in now. Me being me, I nearly drilled too far around through to the outer roof which would have been a disaster. LOL

I've got a dvd player to fit shorty, and I'll also be using it with my megasquirt when it arrives as a sort of HUD flipping down to display air fuel ratios, speed, rpm and all sorts of other useful s**t :) The monitor has a few switchable inputs and I've so I'll fit a CCD camera or 2 shortly for fun too.

What's the first thing I do when I get a new toy ? I open it to see how it works :P

I was thinking about some of them (ebay right), but was told that the quality of the image is s**t. How is it, and can you get a closer/bigger pick of the screen, as well as the mods you made to fit it (I've got an EL).

Cheers.

edit: I actually MADE one of those (7" screen, into a cut up genuine visor), to the point where I wanted to get it resealed/reuposltered, but no one would do it for me, so I've got an uncovered visor with a screen dangling outta it. :(

Just under $150 delivered.
There were a few 7" ones on aussie ebay a few weeks back that were selling for about $150 delivered but I got these bigger 8" ones for just under that. I actually ordered 2, for the drivers side and passenger side but I'm not going to bother with the passenger side as I'm the only one in the car 99% of the time. It seems no one has any more in australia at the moment so I'll probably throw the other one back on our local ebay and see if I can make a few bucks from someone who doesn't want to pay international shipping, risk customs fees, gst etc. ..unless anyone on fordmods wants first dibs

I'll get more pics once it's all installed properly. I took this one earlier, but it's a bit blury because the picture was moving at the time so it doesn't really do it justice. I'm was pretty happy with the quality while testing it.

Fitting wise, you have to pull the plastic strips around roof lining out and also the pillar. I had to drill an extra hole for the main mount (as the hole spacing is a different size to factory) and also one for the clip in part towards the middle of the roof. That part is a little wonky on mine so I may get a proper one from the wrecker and attach that. You could use the existing one but you have to move it over about 3" and it'd leave a hole... I figured better 2 clips there than a hole.

I'd love to get a set up like you mentioned were you can scroll through all gauges on your car on the one screen.

I decided to swap the visors and just fit the passenger side this morning after the missus cracked the s**t that I put it on my side :P It's plenty big enough to see from the drivers side anyway so no dramas.

Also fitted my xbox this morning and somehow got sidetracked playing for 3 hours afterwards. haha.

As for the picture qualitaah, here's a high res shot.

It looks a bit liney, but it's fairly high res and a macro so the image is probably zoomed in 4-5x the actual size of the screen

I must admit I was suprised that you put the drivers side in and not the passenger. As usually it would be the passenger that would use the screen the most in the car - except for in the case where you set it up to show things from your cars ECU. Pictures look good!
