has anyone here seen a set up for a xr6t (or any turboed car) that had a exhaust with a bark/crackle to it?

Are you talking bark crackle pop from antilag/launch control or from over run like on an NA engine?

ive noticed with my car when it was n/a / supercharged it had a nice bark almost a smooth raspy note, but as soon as i fitted the turbo the note has been muffled and it has a much smoother deeper note.. i think its just what happens with the exhaust note being chopped up by the turbine...

on acceleration, i want a raspy set up. glass packed res might kinda work:S

The only real way to sharpen up the exhaust sound on a turbo car is to shorten the length of your exhaust system. Not exactly practical (or legal) but those are the types of compromises that turbo vehicle ownership brings.
You could try different resonators or glass pack mufflers but its expensive if you get it wrong. |

i know turbos like manifold pressure and no backpressure.. legallity isnt to much of an issue, no place to really kick it out the side if i go for a shorter length because of the hight of the sill...

Im pretty sure the law in nsw states that the exhaust must be a minimum of 300mm behind the last opening window. Now in a ute that means you can drop it out in front of the rear wheels if you wanted to. Just needs to abide by the 90dB rule too. Not sure about other states.

Its not that they like one type of pressure over another. Its just the laws of physics that govern that particular system. Useless fact #65863478: Gauge exhaust manifold pressure = approx 2 x gauge inlet manifold pressure. |
