i only realised the other day theres no way to lock my passengers door in my ute without the battery thanks to the deletion of internal door locks and none on the outside, which applies to my bf sedan aswell on all other doors.
i've always wondered what people with fancy pants entry systems like poppers or those new finger print hoopty whas do when their battery dies. because it always happens eventually, and never in the right location lol
having said that heres a few places that sell them, easy enough to find.

wouldn't be too hard to hook up. haven't seen many australian cars with them, plenty of ricers though :P

i have done quite a few on hotrods etc, the solenoids are around $50 each, 4 channel remote unit around $100 plus some relays etc...
in respect to the flat battery, run a cable from the battery to an insulated post under the car, if batt goes flat, just connect a jump pack to the post

they still need the remote to pop the doors open, the jump post is just incase the battery goes flat, however with licencing, you do need an external mechanical override, which also helps you if the remote unit fails or a fuse blows, at least you can still get into the car. Not sure how they do it on production cars, if there is a failsafe / override on them or not, i guess there would have to be something in the ADR's incase the vehicle is involved in an accident, anyone needs to be able to open the doors from the outside

Not a hard thing to setup, just time consuming.
