Hey guys,
I have an El falcon, runs fine on Petrol, and usually runs brilliant on LPG. Lately it wont even start on LPG, let alone run. I cleaned off the corosion on the battery terminals and it worked for about 2 weeks, and it was corroded again then stopped working. So i cleaned them again and it worked for a day, the terminals look clean still but it still wont run on LPG. So besides new battery terminals with some petrolium jelly what could i try? Plugs, Leads, dissy? Is there a specific dissy for LPG (I dont think there is but supercheap auto's parts guide confused me) It seems to be a problem with spark, but its not like its running like s**t, it will just die. Is there something that could be happening electrically when i disconnect the battery? ECU settings? Help would be great. |

Check your coil first. May be a dodgy coil.

They all have an ignition coil. How do you think they run otherwise?

Sorry thought you were refering to the EF style ignition sytem.
Would a dodgy coil show up on lpg and not petrol though? |

Well, it could just be dodgy unusually. Or, could be timing related, as the timing to run well on lpg affects the way it runs on petrol and vice versa. Otherwise take it in to some lpg guys to have a squiz at.
Cheers Sam

Check the coil, and the dizzy cap. If the carbon button isn't in good shape, replace the dizzy cap.
My mates ED just started acting up on LPG recently, then one day all of a sudden it wouldn't run at all. The carbon button in the dizzy cap got too short, and caused the ignition to be too weak to run the engine on LPG. Swapped the cap with a decent almost new cap I had and problem solved, runs on LPG now. Cheers ToranaGuy
