Hi,
Got the offer of picking bits off an EA 3.9ltr 5spd manual my neighbour wants to get rid of,as he said some bits may be the same as my XG ute.Already got the g/box,and some other small bits and pieces, and was just wondering if the clutch cable would be the same as mine.My '95 ute has the EBII MPFI engine in it.If anyone knows of anything else worth getting just let me know. The purchase price is way too good to pass up. Cheers, Kevin. |

Yep, clutch cable should be the same length.

There are actually two length clutch cables, one from early EA/EB and the others a bit longer. However it doesn't matter which one you use, as they will both work.
Cheers BenJ

The EA is a '91 model, and my XG ute's a '95,so there shouldn't be too much difference in the clutch cable-I hope. But as the bits are for nothing,I'm not complaining. Thanks for the replies.Any idea of the lengths of the 2 cables at all?
Cheers, Kevin. |

EF/EL cable is around 4" shorter.
Good opportunity to hunt down a 6 bolt flywheel as well, so you can use a corresponding clutch kit. XG's use the 6 bolt setup from factory, and also the later EBII - on gearbox.

i wish i put a 6 bolt in my ea.... 3bolts are schitt.
i had troubles buying one for my AU ute the other day because none of the local 'parts interpretors' had a listing on their computers or books for utes.... later found out that the listing in the book excludes 1 tonne utes. which i suspect is because they never released tonners in manuals due to the extra possible load.mine being an xr6 never came with 1 tonne option. i purchased an au sedan one and it works fine. I also used my ea one and it was longer but worked fine. about 4 inches like snap mentioned. Length doesn't matter it's the throw thats important which is set by the pedal stroke. which is all the same ea to au. i did notice however you can run the longer one further away from extractors.
