Hey guys just have some questions to ask you all cause im alittle lost on it all..

ive had my EF falcon 6 for around 5 years now, and in the past 3 months it has been loosing power (normaly around 2500 3000rmp) and vibrates when i try to accelerate.
i found by kicking back a gear (its an auto) that it would fix the problem.

so my guess is something to do with the fuel system or ignition system.

ive checked my plugs (iridium) and they seem fine. my leads are fairly new, but had to replace one back to stock as i stuffed it trying to get the bloody thing out.

or could it be the 02 sensor? ive done over 200000k's and im sure the sensor would be pretty buggered by now...

im also wondering could the fuel pump be on its way out? i have run it empty afew times as im a poor tafe student and bloody fuel prices are killing me... and if so would i be bale to put a xr6t one in? like is it a direct bolt on? if not are there any other pumps better then stock that i could put it?

so any suggestions or questions are welcome.

Take the coil pack out and test it.

collapsed cat or blocked fuel filter? I would suggest testing your coil pack as well as dan has suggested.

it vibrates under acceleration? jeez. hows the mounts?
Ive had a crapped out O2 sensor and all it did was use a bit more fuel..
what the other guys have said.. and you can get an awful amount of crap in your TB and inlet manifold, the butterflies in there can get sticky sometimes.. also try a good injector cleaner as well.. thats my two cents thrown in.

Any holes in your mufflers? My muffler recently fell apart and rusyed out and I noticed a power and economy difference and it had a miss fire until I replaced it, also noticed tge car used to vibrate under load until I got a new exhaust

i do know i have a pretty crappy cat, so that may be a huge part of it. the coil pack i replaced about 2000ks ago, ill take the exhaust off next weekend and look at the cat.

just got a new 02 sensor so ill put that on later today and see any difference.

is the coilpack a genuine?

im not too sure at all...
i got it from a car parts dealer down my way. so i just assumed it would be at least good quality.
but im sure its not the coil pack, it happened every now and again before hand and i thought it was the coil pack so i replaced it, but lately its been getting worse. more cause i drive the car longer distances to get to tafe now.

okay guys a quick update, just finished looking at the cat and replacing the O2 sensor.
by the looks of things the cat is stuffed... i dont know how im going to replace it yest as funds are really low these days. i was wondering would i get away with just taking most of the crap out of it untill i can finally afford a new one?

ive reset my ecu and will be running the car in the next 30mins so it can tune to the new 02 sensor..
but yeah any suggestions about the cat?

lol my cat is pretty beyond any cleaning agent to fix.... think ill just take some of the crap out and hope for the best...
