how much rotational play should a dizzy have?

as said, guys I work with mentioned that the dizzy should almost be spring loaded & return. taking my cap off a while ago I noticed play of 10deg or so, but no springy-ness to speak of.

Should have zero play in a E series, the shaft/gear/rotor fit together as a solid unit, there is no 'springyness' to be had.

10 DEGREES OR SO?! sounds like something is a bit worn

yep, drives like its a bit worn too. going to wait for the gasket to go one day & tear the lot down i've decided (dizzy was new 3-4 years ago, got at feeling the aux has spat the dummy)

your rotor button has worn away at the plastic slot that locks onto the groove off the shaft??

without taking the lot apart again i couldnt say but it sounded like it was metalic & deaper in the engine (almost like the shaft was floating)
