I've been chasing a climate fault for a year on my 1995 EF Fairmont. Just been in there for an hour, glovebox and dash surround off, replaced the control unit - exactly the same.
I've done all the checks from this link - documents.php?d=9 - , and there are no faults or errors showing. BUT... the system will only blow air out of the face level. Will not switch to screen or feet - ever. From what I can see my vacuum lines are all sweet, but am I not looking & checking properly??? Or are there critical vacuum lines behind the dash that I can't see without dash removal? I've read heaps of other threads on this issue - there seems to be lots of problems with these systems but I haven't found a thread with the same probs as mine. Any ideas or advice, much appreciated.

Now I've got all the dash fascia etc, when I start the engine there's a clearly audible hissing sound coming out of the centre area. (Could never hear it with all the trim in place).
Anyone know if this is normal? Sounds like a leak to me..... sh*t

I know when I dislodged one of the vacuum lines off of the manifold on my EB the level control on my air con unit stopped working too, so I'm thinking you might be right and it is one of the main vacuum feed lines from the manifold and you'll have to track it down.

dad had similar problems with A/C Doing this on many cars and my old EL would do this sorta thing under 2000+RPM he said its just a vacuum leak take out the dash and find it it will take a while but taking out the entire dash ive been told removes your cars A/C Gas so make sure u can afford the A/C refill
