Hi guys
I am suck of stuffing around with my Maverick and just want to get it sorted properly and be done with it. I am after some recommendations on which MAF to run on it. It has 24LB injectors (AU Blue) and currently has an AU maf housing running E series electronics. It is running a NCII EEC4. Obviously it needs to be tuned and this is where the troubles start. Noone has a transfer function table for the hybrid MAF so tuning it is impossible. Im after recommendation for a MAF to suit. I was going to get one from BPT but while talking to them on the phone they first off said that they only sometimes have the transfer tables available for their MAF's , then it was different excuses to not give me the tables. Being in Sydney its a bit far to get the car over to them in Perth to be tuned so Im looking for some other options. Which MAF would you recommend to suit? The car has GT40 P heads , 70mm Ford racing throttle body , no egr and an Edelbrock Performer RPMII manifold. Being an off road vehicle it also has a 4" snorkel for the air inlet so cold air tuning might be required as well. Whats your thoughts?

have you ever thought about an aftermarket ecu like a ems???.
an 8860 is ideal but pricey, although it will run just as well on a cheaper ems stinger?? atleast then you can ditch the maf all together and run a map sensor |

If you pm scaffy he should be able to check i think its eec analyser and copy the 70mm maf transfer function.
The Lmaf 90mm is a great maf if you can get it ($50usd +). |

I did think about an EMS Troy but I have a set budget on this thing and cant go over it. I myself know aftermarket would be better but by the time I buy the ECU and have it tuned it will destroy my budget. Also I do want to keep it as legal as possible. Im becomming a bit of a sook in my old age and if I can make it work and be civilised I would prefer to keep the factory ECU and keep it legal.
Have had a bit of input from Scaffy Matt. He did suggest the lightening MAF but as he said it will be a little bit big for what I want. I am now looking at the Pro-m ones. They are cheap out of the states and they have the wiring harness available for $540 v the $840 I was preparred to pay to source on locally but it had to be bought in from the US anyway. Time to shoot them an email me thinks..................

It's pretty simple to tweak the stock transfer to suit the "Hybrid Maf". Modifying the tune to suit your blue tops is simple too. Don't ditch the stock ECU just yet!

Agreed! Before you go spending any money on a new maf, let's see if we can get this one running right for you. I think I asked on the other side, are you sure this one is pegging? Have you set all parameters to suit the 24# injectors?
Edit - was pegging an issue on this car or am I getting mixed up? Fire me a pm with your email address and I'll send you a transfer function after work.

You can get the maf off Ebay to suit 24lb injectors and it already has the correct electronics with E series style plug.
The AU blue tops are actually 21lb, not 24lb as most people think. |

If you do have to buy one, import one from the states from Pro-M. They provide you with a transfer table chart and can give you a more detailed one for some extra $.

Are you based near any tuners who can tune these things, for starters? I can forward you my MAF transfer function, which is for the EL/AU MAF, and they can use that as a base to start with, then adjust from there. Then it would only be a matter of adjusting parameters to suit 24# injectors.
