If you want to replace all 3 diff bushes, the cradle needs to be dropped. No ifs or buts there.
If it's just the main diff bush, there is a doco on XR6T forums that shows you where to cut a hole in your spare wheel well so you can pull the bolt and bush with the cradle bolted into the car. Apparently turns a 6 hour job into a 30 min job. |

Most likely the main bush, but can be all of them.
Jack up the back of the car and you can see 2 of them. The main one at the back. If its cracked and split, it will be very obvious. The one on the drivers side you will have to partially remove the bolt to see the bush. Just need a 20mm (or 21mm - cant remember) socket to pull the bolt and look behind it. If its cracked as well, assume the passenger one is rooted too. You cant get to the passenger one as its pressed up against the fuel tank. Hence the requirement to remove the cradle. |

Could also be the control blade bushes. Depending how many km the cars done, they could be rooted as well.
They control the fore and aft movement of the wheel and can cause banging noises on take off and a general loose feeling in the rear end. Rooted control blade bushes on my car caused extra axle tramp on take off (which resulted in more clunking and noises) plus vibrations over less than average roads. |

Did you bottom out and hit something to do that? dougy22 wrote: Cheers mate. are the control blade ones hard to do or expensive. and the same goes for the others Control blade are really easy. 30 mnins per side if you have access to simple tools and a press or vice. I think I paid $120ish for mine. Diff bushes, I dont know. Ford have and will continue to do them free under warranty for me for the next couple of years. |
