my car came with these 4 leaf leaf springs with the oval bushes. they were too worn to pass safety certificate and the bushes are very expensive...all the leaves were quite worn also
I got a 2nd hand set from the wreckers (out of an EL Futura wagon) and assumed they were the same but clearly I didn't look close enough (was paying more attention to the bushes) and later discovered these EL ones have 6 leaves. the car drives well on the highway, round town its a bit harsh..but its great with a load in it... anyone know if the 6 leaf spring would be standard on the EL Futura wagon or is it possibly a tow pack option? just curious thats all

EL's were heavier than an EF.....had extra bracing, thicker windows, etc.
Don't forget to lube the ends of the spring leaves ( where the divets are ) with Moly grease.....makes the spring move better......and the bushes in the spring eyes with rubber grease.

Did the 6 leafs have the same clamping bolt and nut fitted - as per pic 2 ??

I'd think they'd sort that out - the grease would attract dirt and grit ??Along with the eyes as you've said, I'd apply rubber grease to the rear shackle shafts and to the shackle rubber ends.

I've got an EF Wagon and it has 4 leafs. Sits quite high in the back, even with the manifold gas tank, so I've always assumed it had a country pack. Ride is a little bouncy.

I am with madmax, are you sure the 6 leaf springs are off a wagon? I just check my EL wagon which I know has the factory heavy duty rear suspension and it only has 4 leafs. You might have the springs from something like a XH longreach ute

definetly came out of an EL wagon...watched the wrecker take them out.....the saddles were different but otherwise they fit straight into my EF...the history of that wrecked EL is anyone's guess....got used to the stiffer ride now..one sandbag in the petrol tank well took care of that..ha
