Hi Guys,

My central locking started playing up in my eb falcon last week.

The drivers door lock stopped responding.

So today i pulled the power steering motor out of an el I have sitting around.

With a bit of a head ake i managed to get the el motor in the drivers door of my el, and all responded well... EXCEPT!!!

When i lock the door with the central locking, the drivers door can still be opend from the outside.

In other words, i get out of the car, lock it. and all the locks go down nicely, but i can still open the drivers door as if it was unlocked.

I put the key in and lock it manualy with the key. and it is locked.

if i then unlock it with the central locking. it is still locked.

in other words, the drivers door doesnt actually lock, although the lock itself in the car appears to go up and down..

a little more investigating and i noticed, that if i open the drivers door and push the lock down, it locks all the door with it and doesnt bounce back up...

usually.. if drivers door or passenger door is open, you cant keep the doors locked....


is all this happening because the el central locking motor and eb are not compatible.. or have i done something wile installing it....

any help would be much appreciated...

Hi mate,Did hook up all the small rods or may be when you were getting them off did you put a small bend in one of the rods without knowing,Worth a look mate...Whats a Eb one worth do u know

When i was taking the motor off the el i did put a small bend in the pole, but i straightend out when i put in my eb. and that seems to be fine, because the lock does go up and down..

its just the door doesnt ACTUALLY lock..

An eb one is probably cheap, but i just had the el sitting around and it looked fairly the same.

Can anyone help with this?
