Gidday.

There is A LOT of work involved in transplanting the remote central locking/smartlock system from an EB2 to the earlier EA or EB1.

I seriously looked into this as an option, and the simplest way is to upgrade ALL of the wiring from a later donor car. In my opinion if you go that route you may as well use EL wiring and upgrade the interior etc while you are at it.

My Wagon is an EB1, and while I have gone the EL/NL interior route, I have kept the EB1 wiring.

To install remote central locking we used an after-market central locking kit and wired it into the car. At the same time the unreliable and noisy factory central locking motors were replace with after-market items. Much quieter.

You can get kits from Jaycar for quite reasonable prices.

Cheers
BenJ

i had an aftermarket full remote central locking kit i got from jaycar that i fitted in my old ea.
from memory the kit was around $!00 and was pretty easy to install..
or you could buy an aftermarket car alarm with imobiliser and central locking..
imo better than the factory smartlock rubbish..
and a much easier option compared to rewiring half the car.
