Well if you want better acceleration without anything being restrictive, you could go buy an EF top half of the airbox and the EF intake to the throttle body as they allow more of a free flow from the airbox and the EF intake and the Big Mouth will make a good difference

Its an XR6 Turbo snorkle, good cheap upgrade for your EL. You may notice better response with the throttle

ahh thanks.
my intentions at this present time is to purchase the snorkel and iv been ringing around to find a good price on an EF box top and intake piping. will this extra setup make a noticeable difference? also, would it make a different noise from the bonnet?

you would be alot better off getting a BA intake pipe or a custom made one than a EF intake, you wont notice any difference from EF to EL

instead of getting that off ebay you could go down to your local ford dealer and ask for a ba xr6 turbo snorkle theyre around $47, there the same as a auIII xr8 snorkle but with no ticky wings.
it would save you stuffing around with bidding and postage and youd save a couple of dollars

I would suggest get the snorkal from ford....
have you got any 75mm stormwater pipe handy??? Problem with the EF/EL airbox is the have this nice restrictive 55mm entry point on the airbox, with a bit of material removing it can be throuted out to accept the 75mm stormwater pipe.... It is important to add a bellmouth to the plastic pipe as this aids flow.... End result is this... It takes a little work but its a cheap mod that does work very well.... Fitting a BA intake as part of the overall package helps all round as in this pic of my old car....

If you really want to inprove the amount of air flow to the intake you could try build your own shaker style setup. I get mine back sometime this week. The air is feed into the air box with a toyota bonnet scoop threw a standard sized filter and then into the throttle body. The air only travels 6 inches from the out side of the car to the throttle so should stay really cool.

mine used 75mm diameter pipe... as you can see it fits....
If you open up an EF airbox you will see its not 80mm inside it either... it goes down to 55mm as well

I have 76mm pipe and the hose clamp just crushes the flex pipe and won't seal on the pipe, I'll have to find some 80mm pipe

I know changing the intake won't give you 20rwkw but I like the look of the BA intake , the Ef intake is ugly
