Best oil for a 4ltr?

I'm currently using penrite hpr +10 and some anti friction stuff that used to work well in the xf and ltd (5ltr)
both of these in the 4ltr is making it quite noisy in the top end

was thinking of going to magnatec or something semi synthetic?

Also, would a loose timing chain cause any knocking or ticking?

light ticking, you will hear it best at idle normally indicates borked HLA,, heavy thud from bottom end normally means bearings fooked,

penrite hpr10 is semi synthetic,
i wouldnt be using any additives in semi synthetic oil as the oils already have additives, so adding something else can have an oposite effect..
im using hpr10 in mine at the moment and i cant complane..
im running valvaline durablend semi synthetic in the mrs au and so far i find this to be a really good oil..as previously it had nulon mineral oil and it had a slight rocker/chain noise? and since changing to the durablend its nice and quiet...
