Hi i have 1997 Ford Fairlane and when its heat it changes the gear form 1 to 2 and i took to a transmission mechanic and he told me that you need to change a solonide inside the transmission which is $350, and a normal transmission service wont fix it.
can some one please advise me on this what to do? Thanks |

Which solenoid did he mention? as long as it's not S7, you can change it yourself pretty easy.

Hi Gab, Thanks for your email he did not mention me which solenoide, but told that its very expensive.actually my car when its hot and i start driving it pushes further(which he told me thats its changing the gear) which is in initial stage and he said if you dont fix it, it might effect hole transmission, i was new to this issue and the money he was charging me was $350, do you know any better transmission place so that i can have a check up.
Thanks for your advise. |

I think a solenoid that I had to replace last year was about $90 for the part itself. If he's saying that the solenoid itself costs $350 then I reckon he wants to take you for a ride.
