Hi All,

Want to get an idea of how many forum member's use LPG and what LPG system they have installed in there car.

This thread is working in conjunction with this thread ford-lpg-hydrogen-hho-cng-conversions-f44/lpg-prices-are-soooooooooooooooooo-inflated-t101080.html as im under the impression there is a large portion of mixer based system's.

If u dont know what system u have please post a pic and i can tell you before you vote on the poll so we can get a clear number.

I have a mixer system on my AU. Though there are plans to change to vapour injection.

90% of the cars that come through work are also mixer systems, with 80% of those being simple mixer and the other 20% being complex mixer.

Also get a small portion of diesel/lpg. Those being split 50/50 for computer controled vs. simple.

Also looking at putting a simple diesel/lpg setup on my patrol too.

I have a gas ring set up on the NF5.0lt one of the Airod set ups. I get about 260 kms from a 68lt tank as I've been driving like a d**k since I put on a sportier exhaust, plus a lot of stop start M5 traffic

I better list them in a neat list....

Daily drive - Eb Ghia - Vapour Injection - since 2004 economy wise, cruising, less than 5% difference to petrol. Booting it, about 10-15% more than petrol
Eb s1 Xr8 - Impco 425 gas carby setup - Economy unknown at this point
    EB s2 Xr8 - Impco 425 gas carby setup - It's straight LPG
Lh Torana - Gas Research Carby setup - Not fired up yet - straight LPG
Hz Panel Van - sprint gas mixer setup when it's put back together. About 30% more LPG than petrol per 100kms.

The Impco 425 is more of a gas carby than a simple mixer. I did have a mixer ring setup on the torana once upon a time. It really sucked for power & economy.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Edit - economy data that I know of....

Great feedback bud

Information coming from a workshop owner is great

ToranaGuy

If u know extra consumption for each car and setup please modify ur post saying what it is next to it please.

fairlane6970

If u can also add extra consumption that would be great

Done Mickyyyy.

My mums ED on factory duel fuel is about 20% more LPG than petrol per 100kms according to her. There has been a number of trips where I have managed to get exactly the same economy on LPG as per Petrol in my Eb Ghia. Using bowser fill up vs kms traveled data. Not trip computer data.

Most of the LPG workshops that we supply service parts to thru work talk about working on 90% mixer ring style systems, a few impco & gas research systems and only the odd car that is injected. Probably due to the demographic of the area.

Why spend $4k or more on a LPG system for a car that might only be worth $3-4k? That's what most people look at when converting. Not me tho.

Cheers

Got a King SVI system and a 80ltr tank(61 useable litres) with 410-450 a tank...

$4200 before rebate but think I got ripped as the person who installed it used a second hand tank(got a brand new one when I approached him at no further cost!!).

Don't know about the consumption; however, love the fact I loose virtually no power on the highway. If I need to really flash up, seamless switch back to petrol and all is well.

How long ago was it fit, as there was a short supply of new tanks for a while, and a re-tested & re-stamped second hand tank isn't a performance or safety issue.

With the King SVI system, who makes the hardware? Consumption seems to be fairly good from the figures of 410 - 450 a tank, what engine is that running on?

Cheers

I have an Airod mixer kit, professionally and excellently installed by Crescent Motors :-)

I get about 350Km on a full tank, on Victoria Road Sydney traffic...
Costs about $40 to $45 per week at current prices.

Paid for itself in about 10 months, with the rebate as it was then.

I have JTG Icom liquid injection on my BA XR6T tuned to 250rwkw's

At the moment I am trying different callibrators (gas jets) D4 size is too lean but D5 is too rich so I am trying to find a tuner to get it running better my mechanic (who is not the tuner) is getting sick of callibrator changes LOL

Don't get me wrong, when it is going well it really goes and it's top end is more furious on gas than petrol, but it is at the moment inconsistent which is annoying, it is probably timing pull back which should be rectified when the AFR's are all OK.

But I think the JTG system is great and shows good potential, I love it....$25.00 per week with 300+ kw's at the FLYwheel, but there are some JTG li gas Ba xr6t's making 280 rwkw's with very minor mods which are tuned properly with no issues like mine. My issues are the tune not the gas system as far as I know.

I am being told all sorts of different and conflicting info about what is the best way to get my car running better so I will start my own thread and see what advice I can get here, but anyway JTG rocks IMHO :)
