Hi guys

I know that my best alternative is going to be to go to a gas place and get the car checked, but i just wanted to get some form of an idea before heading into a place and not knowing what to say and then getting over priced and getting ripped off.

I have a EF fairmont on gas and lately it has been running really rough. Changed the spark plugs and seemed to be OK for a week. Now, the idling is still s**t house, idling at about 500, but It has started to not give me any power whatsoever. I take off fine ( most of the time) but when I hit about 50, and about 2k revs the car seems to cough and die as if it is running out of gas, which isnt the case as I filled up a couple days back

Just wondering what could be some possible answers and if there is anything i could look at to see if i could fix or help the problem

Thanks in advance

Daniel

Any black smoke? I had an issue with a dual fuel Fairlane sometime ago and it was still getting petrol as well as gas due to a crook solenoid, I know the EF would be EFI but it could be something similiar.

Can I ask why you assume that you will get ripped off?

Unlike yourself there are some unscrupulous gas fitters out there I would think!

thanks fairlane.

If you didnt know, there are some decent people and there are some who are just out to get money.
I'm not in any position where I can afford to get screwed around.

On a lighter note. Problem solved. Had it tuned and got a manual gas stopper or I think it may have been called a gas regulator put in instead of the electronic one. Cost $118 all up.

Now all i need done is some machining on the brakes and to try and solve this water and heating problem that I have. I may need a new or second hand radiator so if anyone has one and is offering for a decent prize just let me know.

Cheers guys

Glad to hear it's going well now, radiators are available for just over $100 new up to several hundred, the choice is there, my suggestion is to get several quotes from reputable radiator specialists - like a Natrad dealer for a std replacement unit, they are quite easy to change over.
