just got a v8 with no trans, got a six with a manual. obviously i want to use the manual with the 8. had a look at dellows website and CRS for their conversion kits available but in the end the shifter will sit to far forward.
i just called a transmission repairer and was told that i cant even simply change the input shft on my t5 to a v8 one. because a 6cyl one has 22 teeth on the cluster gear and a v8 has 24 and will simply not go on.
v8 t5's are like $1500!!! i didnt even pay that for the v8 mont i just got! ( just doesn't have a trans:-( )
and the prices for the v8 cluster gear and input shaft almost cost as much as a gearbox but then i still have to buy a bellhousing.

anyone got any ideas?

Yer about 27 mm maybe more because the 8 sits further forward from the firewall than the i6...

Dellow make a bellhousing to suit 6cyl. T5 onto V8 - check with them about spacing b4 we all throw unknown measurements around!

It will have to sit forward, because the input shaft is shrter. Can anyone confirm whether it is 27mm between the 6 and 8 input shafts?

Something I just thought about... I'm pretty sure I've been told the shifter sits too far back when using an AU T5 in an e-series. Depending on how different it is, you might be able to find a busted AU V8 T5 and swap extension housings over? But then you're going to have issues with tailshaft length still, I would think...

I'm not too sure where they get the measurements from in this thread. Our V8 input shafts are 9 3/4" (247.6mm) in length. That's out of the 'box. When measuring it roughly from where it exits the 'box, it would be about 183mm in length.

I'll have my hands on a 6cyl input shaft tomorrow, which I will be measuring up.

So, it turns out there is about 26mm difference between the 2. My measurements come to a length of 221.5mm for the 6cyl input shaft, which makes it about 26mm shorter than the V8 one, still.

I'm pretty sure there's be issues with tailshaft length...
