G'day
I have a 3.9 Lsd in my car, the 4 pinion 28 spline diff. Just have a question about how the LSD works. I just went for a drive before and its raining outside at the moment and the roads are very wet. I took off from a T intersection and turned right. The inside wheel while turning started to spin up then all of a sudden both locked up and the just went sideways. Is this normal or does it sound like the diff is worn? Cheers

first lsd????? if so be carefull you need to drive differently compared to a open wheeler
sounds normal for a lsd specially if you give it just a little to much on a very wet road mine still catches me out every now a again if 1 wheels starts to spin the power is sent to the wheel with most traction but when that lets go both will spin which = sideways

ah i see, i have had this LSD in my car for quite awhile i just never do burnouts or take my car sideways. I mainly got the diff for extra traction. So nothing to really worry about? I have been in other cars with LSD and they kick out side ways as soon as they turn and put there foot down.

depends on how much you put into it when goin around the corner.
if you didnt put much in it and one wheel spun for a bit its probly fine. just takes a certin amount of torque to engage the lsd clutches. but if its spinnin hard one wheel then yea its fudged.

'Limited Slip'
There is no clutches in a BW78 its a basic cone setup and at around 70nm is the breaking force (iirc) You can tighten them up, swap over cones, install stronger springs, throw bolts inside the springs to act as a spacer, and the list goes on. Usually a few figure 8's in reverse will 'tighten' them up a bit (hone them) along with a thick oil. at the end of the day, they're single peggers with a bit of tension
