manualised 3 speed c4 or 2 speed powerglide. there was a slight bellhousing pattern change in the a series so your better off sticking to e series bottom end perhaps. although plenty of people will tell you its still not a problem.

wasn't aware of any 2-3 speed manual boxes that fit behind ford 6's. i thought the speedway boys around here used manualised autos.
do you mind elaborating on 'suiting your application better' ? Not stirring schitt, i'd like to know myself.

Single rail is what the boys up here use for speedway.

would only essentially use one gear wouldn't you ?
wow three speed manual would suck on the road hehe heard of a few of these builds on these forums but haven't seen one come to fruition yet. seen a nice eb with a 600 holley on it today somewhere else round the net,ran a T5 though. theres a fair bit of support for non efi e series motors nowadays. can't wait to see a build on the forum always wanted to do it to my ea before the mpfi conversion.

no thats the beauty, but i think speedway limits carby size and a few other things.

behind a ford 6, go single rail - you can pick them up for under 200 bucks, reasonably strong (compartively for the price..) easy to find...I've got a slightly noisy one you can have for a hundred bucks! I'll even throw in a bellhousing suit a crossflow...other than that , the old synchro 3 speed manual but harder to find these days...
