2 questions, 1.Just to get it straight in my mind without coming across as stupid if I am traveling down hill instead of applying the brakes I can just pop it back a gear to stay within the speed limit no worries, 2. Is fitting a shift kit of any real use or just a recipe for a harder life for the drive train, thanks

That's what I do with my BA Pursuit all the time. In fact the BF Super Pursuit I had was a 6spd auto and it would actually downshift itself when going down a hill.
A shift kit is always a good idea. Factory shift schedules are notoriously soft, soft means slow application which allows slip to occur. Harder shifting actually reduces this wear....obviously too hard is not good but that's also uncomfortable.
Talk to 66coupe(Jamie) for an electronic shift kit. Get the adjustable one and you're all set.

Pete.

No worries Glen,
I think he made the right choice. Auto's are boring I reckon, in fact I have a TR6060 conversion for mine...just have to have the time to do it.
Apart from that I actually prefer the calibration of the BTR over the ZF....just a shame they dropped the ball on durability.

Just an update , got an adjustable shift kit from shiftkits Australia, easy to fit, works brilliantly.
