So on monday I started out to replace my head gasket, skim the head and get the radiator repaired.
Found a broken chain guide, worn chain. Decided id buy a timing chain kit. Sprockets, chain, tensioner, guides, chain, gaskets. Got the parts needed today and got up to putting the bottom chain guide and the cover on. Could not work it out, dropped it and recovered it several times then it went too far. Into the sump. So now its engine out. Or cut the cross member. Im going with engine out. And now plan to install my performance clutch kit whist its out. Aswell as the sump gasket. Extension housing. Install a cam. Reseat the valves. Funny how things escalate. Hopefully it'll be worth it. I plan to do it propperly. |

f**k that....... leave the guide in there and buy another
my old EF had half a dozen lifters and a bottom guide floating the sump for years, and is still running very strong for the new owner till this day |

It's probably a blessing in discuise, because now you will go the sump gaskit, rear main seal, welsch plugs and other bits that are so much harder with the engine in the car!
Cheers ToranaGuy
