if you obsolete the key barrel you will also need to remove the steering lock, install an accessories and ignition switch, then run a push button starter. and hopefully you have an imobilser. not sure how it works with coded keys either.

should be ok on the E series as they dont run a transponder in the key!

leave the damn barrel in there
this way you have the steering lock!

if u want to go like the toyos where u can just enter the car and then hit the button to start as in no key etc not a chance! way to much money involved!

easy way to set up push button start

is to run a relay
use the relay to trigger the starter
and a button on the relay
need to find the wires under the dash

i did this on my AUXR6 and worked awesome

worked fine in my ea to but i kept forgetting to unlock the steering due to not needing keys lol  hence my predicament.

disco franks option is the simplest. except i just picked up the standard starter relay and used that.

I had a pushbutton installed into my old EF XR8, just removed the starter wire from the barrel and ran it through the buitton instead.
This way you still need the key for security reasons.
And not to mention its the way ford do it. In a way...
