Hi all my first post.
I seem to have inherited my son's EF I've paid a lot of money to up-grade it for him but for whatever reason he doesn't seem to give a s**t about it so it's now mine. Mods include AU1 series 1 redtop motor(Tickford?), Auto to man conversion, all the whitline gear new shocks, headers 2.5 inch exhaust, hi flow cat. The problem I have is it seems to idle very high and doesn't settle down. It has the stock EF ecu and has the resistor mod. Will 1 of these help this problem?Ford EEC-V J3 CHIP. they are advertised on Ebay for $119 Can the problem be the adaptive process?.. ie.the learning mode after the battery has been disconected as this has happenned a lot lately. Ive read the post about this in the auto but how does it apply to this psuedo manual car? This has the potential to be a great car and I can't stand to see it rot. please help with this problem.. You can get a J3 chip with a manual ecu program on it from TI performance (I think they are around $120?) and this would negate the need for the resistor chip. Not sure if it is their gear on ebay.
As for whether it will cure your high idle, I know running a manual ecu helped my friend with rev hag issues after a manual conversion with resistors. If it is idling high all of the time may need to be adjusted though.

if it's reving too high Just adjust the screw and turn the revs down near the throttle body? it could be as easy as a screw driver and your done

First thing I'd be checking is for any vac leaks, other than that, I'd suggest to get the correct manual computer, should work a little better than the resistor trick. a J3 Chip should do the job also

there is... that screw is the throttle blade stop, rather than an idle adjuster.if it gets tightened too far the idle will go up but the isc solenoid will be out of range. this could be the problem but they don't usually move themselves and rarely ever need adjusting.

Alot of people unplug the isc on top of the throttle body and manually adjust the screw for the idle but when its cokd you will have problems with startibg it, so this would only be a short term fix to the problem
