I've got to the point where I have the fuel rail loose, injectors still attached to the rail and still in the chamber. Do the injectors pull straight out of the block? it just seems like I have to apply alot of force to pull them out and I dont want to snap anything.
Also, the thing at the end of the fuel rail.. is that the pressure regulator? Once I have the injectors out of the block (still attached to the fuel rail) and I remove them individually, I'm guessing fuel will piss out of the rail? |

they clip in on the rail, and just push in on the block, yes fuel will come out the rail most likely, but shouldn't be heaps.
might be worth something to clean up though but they can be a bit tight to get out the bock, but shouldn't be super hard, although if your leaving them on the rail remember your removing 6 at a time.

Thanks for that... Got them off eventually, almost had a hernia getting them out of the fuel rail.

I wanted to remove the fuel rail initially but was a bit stumped with the fuel pressure regulator at the back, the fuel line and the return line.
From what I could see, am I right in assuming that to remove the fuel rail, I would have to disconnect the fuel and fuel return lines from the rail itself? As it seemed a bit too fiddly for me and I could barely see where these lines connected to the rail and pressure reg, so I thought I'd leave it be.... unless of course, I'm missing something obvious? Oh btw, its a BA 6 cylinder. |

Well, I had some flat spot and idling issues for quite some time. And when my coils s**t itself and I replaced plugs and coils, all the plugs were hideously fouled. Lots of carbon buildup. I then thought if the plugs were as bad as they were,the injectors would also be kinda s**t as well.
I replaced the fuel filter first and that sorted out ALOT of the problems, but in the back of my mind I just cant help think that my injectors are the next to cause other problems. So... I decided to get them out and get them serviced. Also, I've been wanting to fiddle around under the bonnet to learn something as well. Also had some starting issues creep in recently where it cranks maybe twice then basically stops cranking - pauses for maybe half a second - then fires up if I help it a little bit. But when running, it rarely misses a beat. |
