i used paint thinners on mine ,works a treat

the problem with these strips is that they are porous and absorb water. So as soon as it rains, any of the products you guys have listed get washed off and they turn pink again.

The only way to fix the problem is the seal the plastic... Thats why wax works well.... till it wears off!

If there is a plastic sealer out there, it would be interesting to see the results...

otherwise as uniacidz said, clear coat!

Hey mate - had the same problem as you myself so i sanded them back slightly and then hit them with 4 coats of plastic primer. A couple of hours later i sprayed them with red plastic paint. I got all the stuff i need from supercrap and it cost me around $30 for the lot. A bit of stuffing around but they look brand new again. very happy with the result

i wouldnt waste my time trying to bring them back to life with cleaners myself.i would just get a new set and it will be years before they fade!!

A new set is the way to go for sure, but when I tried it was nearly impossible to get the exact colour. I dont know if somebody is producinng them now but Ford cant help. only got original sides and front no rear. (Cherry Red) .

what colour is the xr as i reclon black strips look the goods even on a white xr..maybe go black ones are a option?

have you gone and priced a set? i priced a full set from ford a couple of years ago.... $700 :shock:

i think the spray can is the way to go!
