If not just plug a resistor into the neutral switch plug...

gasdea wrote: i think its a bit more involved than that isnt it? I ran mine with a resistor jammed inside the plug (not sure on resistor value) for a while. I didn't cut or solder any part of the auto loom for the resistor trick. I just bent the ends of the resistor so that they fit snuggly into the auto and neutral plugs. Haven't had any issues with it since 2007.

on pre-au's you should be able to plug it in so it works as intended like phong said. (au T5s don't have a neutral switch) Although this makes it impossible to clutch start.
The neutral inhibitor switch and reverse switch is in the same plug, without attending to this a) you can't start it and b) you won't have reverse lights. you may want to address both these issues before being a halfass and driving it round unfinished. Do it properly, finish it off, then enjoy. Saves many dramas later on. Also if you have thermos and don't do the resistor trick for the temp sender your thermos will be on all the time. people say this doesn't matter but fans weren't rated with 100% duty cycle. and having them running when travelling at 100km/h would actually hinder airflow i think. Theres a few in depth threads about this with wire colours & pin numbers. It would pay to read some of these then you can finish it off in about 10 minutes when you have the right resistors which cost around 2cents each.

Heres a tip gasdea, dont use search on here, use google, type your search query ie 'neutral safety switch AU' then add www.fordmods.com at the end. You will get all the threads that way and generally it works better than the search function on here as the search person on this site is a retard...
