Hey guys,

Been thinking about buying a Stage 2 Snort turbo kit for my Ef2 Fairmont Ghia and have been asking around trying to find out what I need to do.

My car has donne 250,000ks and I expect its gonna need some work before fitting the kit.

I know the stock engines and trans can handle up to 250rwkw but obviously mine is no longer "Stock".

How far do I need to go with my engine and trans before fitting this kit?

I have a xr6 engine with the high compression, Would I be best working my engine or buying a non xr 4.0l.

Also, Once fitted, What else do I need to do? Will my ecu be okay? (I am aware I have to change injectors)

Cheers.

Ur stock engine and trans will handle up to 250rwkw depending on condition,
U can use stock injectors, rising rate fuel Reg, and a j3 chip , but only as a temporary fix , running no more than 8psi.
What u need is bigger injectors, fuel pump, aftermarket ecu. Etc , with a good tune it will take 12 psi safely.
U will need to fit oil lines, intercooler etc,

Plenty of info in the forced induction Forum

Thanks, I'm just after information on what I need to do to my engine before it will be ready to boost.
I know its gonna need rebuilt seeing as its done 250,000ks but I was hoping to get an idea of what needs to be done.
Also what I need to do with trans and diff?

Thanks.

Depends on how much boost Ur putting in the motor ,
6-8 psi 220rwkw ,motor will be fine, 10-12psi 240- 260 rwkw depends on what condition motor is, auto might slip, t5 won't last too long if Ur flogging it. Diff should be ok.

Any more psi or rwkw I don't think the motor will cope ,nor will the gear box , diff might take it,

Sorry didn't give u a straight answer

Engine - acl race pistons, skim head, stiffer valve springs, Au head gasket, basically a bottom end rebuild and work the head.

Get a t56, that will handle power , and diff maybe get it rebuilt , the diffs are quite strong
